The Hilux starts at ₹33.99 lakh for the standard 4×4 MT variant. The High 4×4 MT and High 4×4 AT are priced at ₹35.80 lakh and ₹36.80 lakh respectively. Toyota finally launched the much awaited pickup Hilux in India starting from 33.99 lakh. It is spawned by the IMV ladder-frame architecture as the Fortuner and Innova, from which it shares many interior and mechanical components. One of which is the 2.8L turbo-diesel which churns out peak figures of 204bhp and 420Nm in manual and a whopping 500Nm in 6 speed automatic guise. The Hilux gets 4x4 in all variants and additionally, the off-road kit includes hill-descent control, a limited-slip rear differential with electronic rear differential locking and A-Trac brake-based torque-vectoring system. Toyota also packed Hilux with a lot of goodies like dual-zone climate control, 8-inch touchscreen with Android Auto/Apple Carplay, connected car tech (Geo-Fencing, Realtime Vehicle Tracking, Walk to Car), tyre-position indicator, a variable-ratio steering system and all LED lighting. Safety is well covered as the Hilux has a five-star ASEAN NCAP safety rating with features that include seven airbags, vehicle stability control, hill-start assist, anti-theft alarm and ISOFIX child seat mounts. The Hilux sits in the niche segment of pickup trucks, where its only rival in India is the Isuzu D-Max which starts from Rs 22 lakh for the 4x4 versions. Bookings already started in January with the amount set at Rs 1 lakh.
