Honda’s midsize SUV, which will compete with the Creta, is anticipated to arrive in the middle of 2023

Honda’s latest SUV is a key factor in the company’s success within the Indian market, and is expected to become available in April 2023. The carmaker only has two models for sale in India at this time; the City (and its hybrid version) and the Amaze.

Honda’s upcoming SUV is anticipated to launch in the mid-2023 timeframe, as a competitor to the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, and Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder. It is expected to be made available for purchase during the 2023 festive season.

Design And Dimensions

Honda’s forthcoming mid-sized Sport Utility Vehicle is anticipated to have a length of approximately 4.2 to 4.3 metres and will be built on a modernized version of the Amaze platform used in India. There is no additional information regarding the design, and no sightings of the SUV have been reported to date.

Interiors

Though no definitive information exists about the interior of Honda’s midsize SUV, reports suggest the forthcoming Honda SUV released in India will be equipped with a cutting-edge electronic architecture and display system comparable to the Accord and CR-V sold abroad. Consequently, the SUV is likely to feature a 10.2-inch fully digital screen.

It is expected that the upper trims of the midsize SUV will receive Honda Sensing, which was first implemented in the City e:HEV in India. This is Honda’s suite of advanced driver-assistance systems, providing features such as adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, and blind spot monitoring.

Engine Options

The forthcoming Honda midsize SUV will be equipped with the 121 horsepower, 1.5-litre, naturally aspirated petrol engine of the fifth generation City. Moreover, higher trim levels may also be offered with the 1.5-litre strong-hybrid petrol powertrain from the City e:HEV.
Honda is in the process of importing the engine for the City e:HEV, but with economies of scale achieved in the production of midsize SUVs, localization of the engine could be possible. This could result in a more cost-efficient approach, with similar gearbox options available.
Launch Timeline
Honda is set to unveil its mid-size SUV in India in mid-2023, with a commercial launch following close behind the festive season. Upon its release, it will enter the competitive arena of a rapidly-growing sector, competing with the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq and Volkswagen Taigun.
